    You're missing the point Gareth, they are sooo clever that they only like to read numbers in Scientific notation and if you can't read them you can't join their club ;)

    probably a FORTRAN program with a dubious print format statement (not that I know any FORTRAN, I hasten to add!)...

    Now that must be it Rob - I'm just not clever enough! I have a feeling it might be because I entered my number with the international dialing prefix (+441962) rather than 01962...

    Yesterday I sent a message to the BCS informing them of the problem. Today I had the following reply:

    "Dear Mr Jones, Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We are presently investigating this error with our mailing house. Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience caused. Best Regards..."

    LOL. The BCS is an embarrassment to IT. I cancel my membership years ago. In 2001 I notified them that their website was not W3C compliant. When I left IBM in 2006, it still wasn't compliant. How poor is that.
